Cheap Eats Around Times Square

Writer: Marites LeeMarites Lee

New York City and Times Square in particular can be an overwhelming place because of its lights, sounds and energy.

Finding a good place to eat can be challenging because the restaurants around the area can be quite expensive and waiting time can be longer than usual. On a recent trip to NYC, I discovered various good cheap eats you can get a bang for your buck and just focus on what to see and do around the area. Here goes

Los Tacos No. 1. Anyone is always up for a Mexican fare. Apprently, this joint can get really busy but the good thing abot it is that it is a standing meal so it is meant to be a "eat and go" kind of thing so the wait can be worth it. Make sure to try their drinks, it was refreshing and not too sweet.

Shake Shack. A NYC staple nonetheless. Make sure to try the cheese fries! They have locations all over NYC although I still prefer their location by Madison Square Park. It is like a party in the backyard.

Silky Kitchen. When you needed something filling that will take you through the day and if you needed some quiet time from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of Times Square to enjoy your food. This is the place to be.

Empanada Mama They have a variety of Empanadas that you can have for breakfast, a snack or even for dessert. The empanadas can come with either corn or wheat.

Prime Catch. I didn't have a chance to try this place but $1 for oysters during happy hour got my attention. I mean who woudn't love that?

Yard House. What got us to check out this place was that it was open until late. A place that's great to just hang out and talk about what kind of day you had and the interesting things you saw and did. A great to just cap off your day.

Gong Cha Bubble Tea. Who wouldn't love a good bubble tea? If you haven't tried it, you are definitely missing out.
